Fungi Recorder is an app designed for field mycologists to take the effort out of keeping good records. It allows you to make records of all of your finds, neatly organised by forays. You can add photos and descriptions for any specimen. And you can easily share your lists, descriptions and photos with others via email.

Fungi Recorder has many handy features to make recording of descriptions quicker and easier, including colour charts, an on-screen ruler and pick lists for attributes. Searching and filtering capabilities make finding records a simple task.

To avoid any doubt, please note that Fungi Recorder is not a field guide, and it does not identify your finds! However, it will allow you to keep good records, making it easier for you to make a determination yourself.

Features
• create and manage forays and locations
• easily add specimens to these forays, either by selecting from a list of over a hundred common finds, or by entering the names
• add detailed descriptions by selecting attributes from a list of characteristics, or entering your own notes
◦ on-screen ruler for measurements
◦ optional colour chart for choosing colours
◦ tap on the glossary button to look up the meaning of any attribute
• configure the level of detail you want – from basic details like cap colour and size, to advanced ones like chemical tests or microscopic characters such as spore ornamentation
◦ if you want detail, there is plenty; for example under spores, the categories are: spore print colour, length, width, Q value, shape (16 to choose from or enter your own), ornamentation, ornamentation size and iodine reaction
• add flags to identify particular records – for example as a rare find, or a good photo
◦ create new flags to suit your own purposes
• search names or notes to find specific items, or use the filters to look for flags or images
• the foray list can also be filtered for a date range or by name, so you can, for example, see what you have recorded just for the current year
• add photos from your albums or take photos with the camera
• create lists of finds as a PDF document – very handy if you are a foray leader and want to create a list for participants or site owners; you can email the list directly from the app
• create detailed documents (in PDF format) including your descriptions and photos, either of individual finds, or groups of specimens
• create simple text exports of selected specimens or forays; the contents of the export is fully configurable. Useful if you want to upload finds to a database, or to do any analysis in a spreadsheet.
• choose your terminology; if you prefer stipe to stem, and pileus to cap, just switch the terminology to scientific mode
• simple getting started guide with some sample records to illustrate how to use Fungi Recorder
• comprehensive help information included in the app
